Ring a taxi company, give clear instructions and be ready for the taxi's arrival. If you are in the city, catch a taxi from a taxi rank.

Friday and Saturday Nights

These are the busiest times for catching taxis. When going out, phone the taxi company and allow extra time for arrival. When coming home on these nights from Scarborough, Claremont, Fremantle, Subiaco or Northbridge, catch a taxi from a supervised taxi rank.

The safest way to catch a taxi is to ring for a cab. When you phone a major taxi company (ie Swan Taxis or Black and White Taxis), your request will be stored on a computer and dispatched to the next available cab in your area. Your job information is displayed on the selected taxi's computer screen -not called over a two-way, so only the driver allocated with your job, has your information. The taxi company will also keep computer records and will be able to trace the taxi- car number and driver. This is useful sometimes, especially with lost property.
